Readmore Inn a Vermont Bed and Breakfast Inn

The Kipling Room

The Kipling Room

The original house Nursery is small but cozy.

Rudyard Kipling was a frequent guest of the Hall family, he lived not far from here in Dummerston, Vt., at the period of his life when he wrote “The Jungle Book” and “Just So Stories”. The room features books by him, as well as other children’s fiction.

A queen sized mahogany sleigh bed dominates the room, and books for sale here include children’s selections from many generations.

Adorned with an antique children’s school desk, and a few remnants of toys from other generations, the room will inspire the child in all of us.

What were your favorites when you were a child? Nancy Drew? Black Beauty? The Jungle Book perhaps…

Note: This room is only rented as part of a suite with the Rose Room.
